UPDATE REGARDING WATER PLANT NO. 1 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 96 is a water control and improvement district tasked with supplying water, collecting and treating wastewater, and controlling and diverting stormwater within its geographical boundaries.  In an effort to continue providing high quality water service to customers of the District, it is necessary for the District to make improvements to existing water facilities located in Water Plant No. 1, including constructing a water well and hydropneumatic tank and also recoating its existing ground water storage tank.

Earlier this year the District commenced drilling a new water well, and, as part of the new well’s construction, the District’s contractor must test the water well.  The testing will involve overnight well operations and result in an extended sound and noise event lasting approximately 36-hours.  The testing will commence either Friday, November 3rd, or Monday, November 6th.   The District apologizes for any inconvenience the testing may cause.  To mitigate the disturbance, the District has erected sound barriers and instructed the contractor to direct flood lights away from nearby homes.

Provided the testing is successful, the District anticipates the testing will conclude overnight operations related to well construction.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the water plant improvement project, please contact the District Operator, Si Environmental, at 832-490-1500.
