P-133-000-000 Drainage Facility Erosion Control Projects – Phase II

In an effort to protect the lives and property of residents in Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 96, the District has initiated several erosion control projects along the P-133-000-000 Drainage Facility.  The first project phase began June 2, 2016, and has concluded.  The second project phase, identified as Structure 3 and Structure 4 in the illustration below, will commence in Spring 2017 with construction continuing through Summer 2017.  Regrettably, the erosion control projects will result in the removal and clearing of some trees and underbrush along P-133.

P-133-000-000 Drainage Facility Erosion Control Projects

In an effort to protect the lives and property of residents in Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 96, the District has initiated several erosion control projects along the P-133-000-000 Drainage Facility, identified in red below.  Recently upstream development combined with heavy rains has increased the rate of embankment erosion along certain parts of P-133.  After much consideration and in consultation with the Harris County Flood Control District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the District decided to undertake several projects to reduce and impede erosion occurring along P-133.

P-133

Over the next two years, residents adjacent to P-133 will observe various erosion control projects targeted at maintaining the Mesa Road bridge and reducing embankment erosion along P-133 south of Mesa Road.  The various locations of these projects are identified in the graphic below.  Project activity will occur over time in several phases.  The first project began June 2, 2016, and should conclude at the end of August, provided there are no delays.  Regrettably, the erosion control projects will result in the removal and clearing of some trees and underbrush along P-133.

The District requests patience as it proceeds with these erosion control projects and apologizes for any inconvenience the construction activity may cause.  To reduce any disturbance the construction may cause residents, the District has asked contractors to limit their hours of operation to 7 a.m. through 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.   If you have any questions or concerns regarding the erosion control projects, please contact Sanford Kuhl Hagan Kugle Parker Kahn LLP at 713-850-9000.

Garbage Collection & Street Obstruction Announcement

Recently, WCA, the company providing garbage collection services to the residents of Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 96, has experienced difficulty collecting trash on cul-de-sacs in the District.  Residents and their guests have been parking in the cul-de-sacs in such a fashion as to make it difficult for the garbage collection trucks to navigate the street and turn around.  The District requests residents and their guests take special care when parking on their streets during collection days on Wednesdays and Saturdays so as not to obstruct the garbage collection trucks.  If you have any questions regarding your solid waste collection service, please contact WCA at 832-347-6554 or hcwcid94@wcamerica.com.
